While Kim Kardashian West made a name for herself on the famous show with her family, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” her father Robert Kardashian rose to fame in the murder trial of O.J. Simpson.

Kardashian opened up about the challenges her family faced during the trial during an appearance on David Letterman’s Netflix show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” reports Forbes.

Letterman’s first guest was Kardashian, where he asked hard hitting questions about the Simpson trial for the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.

Through their relationship with the Simpsons, the Kardashians were involved in the case dubbed by media as “the trial of the century.” Robert Kardashian was Simpson’s friend from college and a part of the football player’s legal defense. Kris Jenner, the late Kardashian’s ex-wife, was the best friend of Nicole Simpson. According to reports, she believed the football player allegedly killed his wife.

Before the historic trial began, Kardashian West shared that she called Simpson “Uncle O.J.” The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star revealed that her family went on vacation with the Simpsons just before Nicole was murdered.

The trial “tore my family apart,” Kardashian West told Letterman. She shared that when she and her sister Kourtney were teenagers, both of their divorced parents had different opinions about the case.

The mother-of-four said it was difficult “having your dad take one side and your mom take the complete opposite side.”

Although Kim was candid about the trial's effect on her family, she did not delve deeper into her own personal stance on the controversial ruling. More than two decades after the crime, Kardashian West did not share if she thought Simpson was genuinely innocent.
