Guy Fieri Cooks Up Meals for Crews Battling Northern California Wildfires

August 30, 2020

Celebrity chef Guy Fieri is giving backing to the community by cooking up meals for firefighters battling northern California wildfires.

Fieri was in Calistoga with Wine Country chefs where he cooked meals for 2,500 firefighters, the Argus Courier reported.

Fieri was one of the chefs who responded to a call from Geyserville chef Domenica Catelli to help out.

Guy Fieri has been an absolute all-star in his efforts while devastating events in 2020 continue to affect millions of Americans.

In May, Fieri competed against the legendary Bill Murray in a nacho-making contest, in order to raise money for Fieri's Restaurant Employee Relief Fund, which gives financial assistance to employees impacted by the coronavirus shutdown.

The celebrity chef also partnered with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to raise money for the foundation’s Restaurant Employee Relief Fund. The foundation shared that the chef has helped raise more than $20 million.

Workers in the industry who have lost their job or experienced a drop in income can apply for grants from the fund. The fund will provide a $500 one-time grant to approved applicants.

In the spring, more than 60,000 people have applied for this grant. The fund has given out about 20,000 grants. When applying, employees did not need to provide a social security number.
