Musicians Get Only 12% of the Money the Music Industry Makes

The music industry is infamous for screwing artists from labels, to illegal downloads, and now the streaming companies like Apple Music and Spotify.  But how much of a cut ARE the artists getting. Well, according to a new report, American listeners are spending more money on music than EVER before over $20 billion a year. Music revenues from stuff like on-demand streams, CDs, radio, live events and advertising have risen to about $43 billion a year.

Of that, artists only take home $5 billion, or about 12%.
