Jack White Is Upset that Two Women Were Prevented from Kissing at One of His Shows

November 8, 2018

A Canadian woman named Allyson MacIvor made the news this week, because she went to a Jack White concert in Edmonton with her girlfriend, and an usher stopped them from kissing. She said, quote, "Some staff member came in between us, and she said, 'This is not allowed here.'  It was very violating and invasive."

Allyson added, "The biggest struggle for me was I've never told [social media> that I'm gay. This was the first time I actually announced to the world that I was gay."

When Jack heard about it, he wasn't happy. He posted a picture of two women kissing at a Beatles concert all the way back in 1964. And he said, quote, "It's 2018 now and two people expressing affection shouldn't have to hide. "The news that two women were stopped from kissing during my show in Edmonton really disappointed me. Let's promote love and acceptance wherever and whenever we can."

He also said he dedicated a song to Allyson and her girlfriend at his next show in Calgary.

This photo is a lesbian couple sharing a kiss at a Beatles concert in 1964 while the rest of the crowd screamed for the band. This is one of my favorite photos because of how beautiful the situation is; they are hiding in plain sight. Its 2018 now and two people expressing affection shouldn’t have to hide. The news that two women were stopped from kissing during my show in Edmonton really disappointed me. At the next show in Calgary I dedicated the song “love interruption” to the two women and encouraged everyone in the crowd to kiss their loved ones. Let’s promote love and acceptance wherever and whenever we can. -Jack White III
