An Ice Rink Is Coming To The Mall Of America This Holiday Season

November 29, 2018

A new feature is coming to the Mall of America for the holiday season, a custom-built ice rink! It will be near the North Entrance, and the 12,000-square-foot oval rink will open on Dec. 8 and will be free to the public, while proceeds from skate rentals will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities (BGCTC).

In a press release, the MOA's SVP of business development Jill Renslow said an ice rink is "an experience we have always wanted to bring to life" at the Bloomington mall. We want our guests to experience the unexpected when they visit each year," she said. "That is why adding this ice rink is such an exciting addition to our holiday line-up."

The new attraction will be called "Skate The Star." Visitors are able to bring their own skates to use, while skate rentals will cost $5. The rink will operate until Sunday, Jan. 27, and between Dec. 8-23 it will be open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-to-Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. The hours will change from Christmas Eve onwards.
