Have We Been Prounouncing Blink-182 Wrong All These Years?

November 20, 2018

Blink-182 has been around for more than two decades, whether you like it or not .So this might come as a surprise to you: We don't all PRONOUNCE the band's name the same. A lot of British people pronounce the name 'Blink-One Eight Two' instead of 'Blink-One Eighty Two.' A comedian mentioned it on Twitter, and it has gone viral.

Some Brits are DEFENDING their pronunciation and their argument is about proper English, of course. One said, quote, "If it's a number, it's one hundred and eighty two.  If it's figures, then it's one eight two.  'One eighty two' just doesn't exist as an entity in the English language."

For what it's worth, James Corden Tweeted, quote, "I admit we are wrong on this. [But> America calls them Blink-One Eighty Two, which is also wrong. They technically should be called Blink-One Hundred and Eighty-Two."

The band hasn't made an official statement, but they're joking about it. Mark Hoppus says we're focusing on the wrong thing. He Tweeted, quote, "In all of this, I feel like we've lost sight of the fact that the 'B' in blink-182 should be lower-case."

And Tom DeLonge Tweeted, quote, "It's actually Blink EIGHTEEN-TWO. People have all gotten this wrong for years. Sometimes this can happen with very complex, thoughtful and elevated art."  Travis Barker hasn't commented.
