Legendary metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio will be the subject of a tribute album featuring contributions by Metallica, Anthrax and Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford, and — with a nod and a wink — Tenacious D. The comedy duo had previously paid tribute to the man in their song “Dio,” and also invited Ronnie to appear in their feature film, Tenacious D: The Pick Of Destiny.

Dio was the original frontman of Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow. From there he went on to replace Ozzy Osbourne in the second incarnation of Black Sabbath, and after leaving that band, he formed his own band Dio. Tragically, the singer succumbed to stomach cancer in 2010.

The tribute, Ronnie James Dio: This Is Your Life, was produced by his longtime manager (and wife) Wendy Dio, and will raise funds for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.
