Metallica, the most famous metal band in the world, just played a show in a cozy little venue at the bottom of the world. In a geodesic dome surrounded by a small group of Latin American contest winners and research scientists, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo performed a short set of old hits at a site near the heliport at Carlini Argentine Base, Antarctica.
Using wireless headphones to save on power that would otherwise be used by their amplifiers, the group played a 90-minute set to people in parkas and big gloves. Check out the replay of the band’s set below, which includes “Creeping Death”, “Master of Puppets”, “One”, “Blackened” and much more. Surprisingly, “Trapped Under Ice” did not make the setlist.
