Tom Waits hasn’t toured since 2008, but he’s returning to the stage this fall, all in the name of charity.

The singer took to Facebook Saturday (September 21) to announce himself as a last minute addition to the 27th Annual Bridge School Benefit, which helps raise money for the non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that individuals with severe speech and physical impairments are given the skills to participate in their communities. The concert is set to feature Queens of the Stone AgeMy Morning JacketElvis CostelloThe Killers (Saturday only), fun.Diana KrallHeartJenny Lewis and Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young. This will be CSNY’s first major show since their Freedom Of Speech tour in 2006.

Waits  will perform a full acoustic set featuring songs from his 2011 album Bad As Me with his band, which will feature Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo on guitar, Primus’ Les Claypool on bass and Waits’ oldest son, Casey on drums.

But for all those who think this one-off appearance means Waits is hitting the road, you’ve got another thing coming.

“I had every good intention to stay homeand work on my JD Salinger Halloweenmask,” Waits wrote on Facebook. “But when Neil told me yesterday he was serving burnt cow’s eyes on a flat tire and it’s all gluten free, I invited myself!”

The benefit concert will take place over two days — Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27 — at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA.
