No stranger to outrageous costumes, Madonna donned a new ensemble Saturday night – an over-sized Boy Scout uniform, badges and all.

However, the outfit was not her latest tour garb, but an ironic gesture toward her stance on the organization’s policy against gays.

In a speech at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards, the singer called out the Boy Scouts of America for their discriminatory practices, saying, “I think they should change their stupid rules.”

The video rant, below, is NSFW due to language.

She started by teasing that she wanted to become a Boy Scout, but had been turned down despite having all of the qualifications.

“I can build a fire. I know how to pitch a tent. I can rescue kittens from trees. Most importantly, I know how to scout for boys.”

The Boy Scouts of America has caused controversy in recent years over its anti-gay policy, which prohibits gay people from serving in the organization. Carly Rae Jepsen and Train caused a stir earlier this month when they canceled performances at one of the group’s events because of its anti-gay stance.

“It’s an atrocity to me, I don’t accept it.” Madonna said in her speech. “I don’t know about you, but I can’t take this (expletive) anymore. That is why I want to start a revolution. It’s 2013 people. We live in America, land of the free and home of the brave? That’s a question, not a statement.”

As a mom herself, she emphasized the grave repercussions that intolerance and bullying can have on youth.

“When I think about young kids in America who are being bullied and tortured, who are taking their own lives because they feel alone and judged, outcast and misunderstood, I want to sit down and cry a river of tears.”

Madonna recognized CNN anchor Anderson Cooper for his active support of gay rights, awarding him the Vito Russo Award.

According to Rolling Stone, this is not the singer’s first brush with anti-gay establishments, having publicly opposed a gay pride ban in Russia last year.
