Fresh off stumping for Obama last week in Ohio and Iowa, Bruce Springsteen has announced another campaign appearance for the president. The Boss will play a free concert at an Obama rally in Charlottesville, Virginia this Tuesday, October 23rd.

Springsteen will appear alongside elected officials and volunteers at the swing state rally, to be held at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion at 2 p.m. The rally is open to the public but does require tickets, which will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at Obama for America offices in Charlottesville. Full ticket and location info is available on Springsteen’s site, where he first announced the appearance. Later that night, Springsteen and his E Street Band will play their scheduled concert in Charlottesville.

The Boss, who endorsed Obama in 2008 and launched a concert tour behind John Kerry in 2004, said earlier this year that he did not feel compelled to campaign for a candidate every election cycle. After announcing his rally appearances in Parma, Ohio and Ames, Iowa, Springsteen took to his website to explain why he felt compelled to continue campaigning for Obama.

“We’re still living through very hard times but justice, equality and real freedom are not always a tide rushing in,” he wrote. “They are more often a slow march, inch by inch, day after long day. I believe President Obama feels these days in his bones and has the strength to live them with us and to lead us to a country ‘…where no one crowds you and no one goes it alone.'”

During his appearance with Bill Clinton outside of Cleveland last Thursday (October 18), Springsteen played a 35-minute set that included “The Promised Land,” “This Land Is Your Land,” “Youngstown,” “We Take Care of Our Own,” “Thunder Road,” and a new (joke) song he wrote for the occasion, dubbed “Forward and Away We Go.” Following the rally, Springsteen flew to Iowa for his appearance in Ames that same day.
