On Tuesday, Bob Dylan will release his 35th album, Tempest, but fans don’t have to wait that long to hear it. The album is now available (likely for a limited time) in its entirety, for free, streaming on iTunes. Listen here.

Tempest features 10 new originals and clocks in at an hour and eight minutes. It serves as the follow-up to 2009’s Together Through Life, a No. 1 album in the U.S. and abroad.

Apparently Dylan originally set out to make a religious album of Tempest, but in the end, created something deeper and darker than even he fathomed. However, fans may not get that feeling from the album’s first single and opening track, “Duquesne Whistle.” It’s a jaunty, old-time track, but its violent, stalker-themed video is a different story. Watch below.

Also included on Tempest: Dylan’s epic 14-minute ode to the sinking of the Titanic (the album’s title track). Notice Leonardo DiCaprio gets a shout-out in the Irish-sounding folk tale. Meanwhile, John Lennon gets his own song, “Roll On, John,” which focuses on the Beatle’s 1980 assassination and features Lennon’s own lyrics (“I heard the news today, oh boy” from “A Day in the Life”).

Dylan’s been playing shows in Europe and North America this summer, but doesn’t kick off his proper Tempest arena tour until Oct. 5 in Winnipeg. During Tuesday’s show at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, Dylan didn’t play even one new song, Rolling Stone reports.

Early reviews have praised the album as his stunning swan song, but you can listen to Tempest and make up your own mind. Preview the album for free while you can – it’s not likely to last past release day (Sept. 11).
