Nada Surf Rock On With New LP “The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy”
Longtime indie rockers Nada Surf are finally back with their first full-length LP of new material since 2008. The bands newest LP, cleverly titled The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy shows the band in more than fine form and packs in 10 new songs that’ll make you swear it’s 1996 all over again (in a good way).
The best way to describe the ride that Nada Surf‘s new record takes you on can best be described as opening a 90-s rock time capsule. The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy is packed in with so many great moments reminiscent of unforgettable 90-s acts likeNirvana, Weezer and Foo Fighters as well as a touch of fresh influences from modern rock to bring it all together.
The record progresses very naturally from its extremely catchy opener Clear Eye Clouded Mind into songs like The Moon Is Calling, which breeds nostalgic sounds that that bring you back to the days when the only thing that mattered was blasting The Verve Pipe on the highway with all the windows down (we’ve all done it).

Nada Surf‘s new record picks up exactly where Lucky left off but is far more ambitious from a songwriting standpoint. The band sticks to the formula of catchy hooks and driven post-grunge guitar sounds that made them great while also exploring some newer elements in more depth. The newer elements are executed particularly well which is a huge step forward as some ideas the band experimented with on Lucky felt far less developed. The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy shows above all that even as industry veterans, Nada Surf are still progressing forward as a unit which will continually keep drawing new fans in, and keep long time fans faithful.
