Old school rockers Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are another act who will be hoping to leave the GRAMMY Awards with a statue in tow.

The “Free Fallin'” boys are nominated in the coveted Best Rock Album category for their 2010 album Mojo. Trends looks at their chances of taking home the award.

The nomination is the band’s one and only at this year’s awards and they will have to go some way to beat their rivals. However the total scrobble count of 10,419,847 spread over 658,226 listeners will give them confidence, especially in comparison to fellow nominee Jeff Beck (nominated for Emotion & Commotion) who counts just 3,761,620 scrobbles.

However the weight of the rest of the nominees soon comes down on Tom Petty with a look at the remaining three.

Neil Young (who we looked at yesterday) holds 31,067,095 scrobbles, whilst Pearl Jam and Muse eclipse them even further with 72,632,794 and 198,984,616 total scrobbles respectively.

Whilst tracks from Mojo haven’t quite reached the heights of the band’s older material (the classic “Free Fallin'” still gets roughly 2,500 listeners a week as opposed to “I Should Have Known It” from Mojo which gets around 200 listeners a week) the band will surely feel they have every chance of pulling off a shock at the awards.

Find out how Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers get on by watching the awards on CBS on February 13th.
