Yorke explained the project on his band’s website, saying “The plan is to make images from the skies // to remind those in Cancun that we’re running out of time // we can’t keep putting this off.”

The project will take place in 12 locations spread across the globe where artists and activists will create massive public art installations to show that climate change is currently impacting the world. These art installations will also offer suggestions on how to solve the crisis.

Yorke’s part in the project consists of gathering thousands of people on November 27 on the coastline of Brighton, U.K. to form an enormous version of the image from the cover of his solo album The Eraser. The album cover is a picture of King Canute, a Norse ruler who futilely tried to control the ocean.
