A new [lastfm]Billy Joel[/lastfm] documentary made its debut this weekend. The movie, called Last Play At Shea, is centered on a pair of concerts the singer gave in July 2008 at the former home of the New York Mets, which was demolished last year.
The film “examines the intersecting histories of a stadium, a team, and a music legend,” according to promotional materials put out by the Mets.
The doc premiered Saturday evening at New York’s Citi Field, the new home of the Mets. According to the team, 20,000 people were expected to attend, making it the biggest outdoor movie presentation since 1919.
Last Play At Shea includes interviews with Joel, as well as footage from other concerts, including the likes of [lastfm]Roger Daltrey[/lastfm], [lastfm]Steven Tyler[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Paul McCartney[/lastfm].
