While performing three sold-out shows in his hometown of Detroit over the weekend, [lastfm]Kid Rock[/lastfm] managed to debut a handful of new tunes and finally reveal that his next album, Born Free, will be out in just three months.
Born Free was originally slated for a September release, but as of this weekend, it has been pushed back to November 16. “Slow My Roll,” “God Bless Saturday,” “Rock On,” “Times Like These,” “Feels Good To Me” and the title-track were all performed at Detroit’s DTE Energy Music Theatre over the weekend.
The title track will also be released as the album’s first single. While onstage in Detroit, Rock commented that the song discusses “how lucky each and every one of us are, no matter where you’re from, to be born in a country that’s free.” Backstage and onstage footage was also captured over the weekend for the video for “Born Free.”
Earlier this summer, Rock told the crowd at a Billboard magazine conference that he might not hit the road in support of the new album as soon as some would expect. He said: “I’ve always thought about putting a record out and maybe sitting back and letting it soak in on the fan base rather than going out and playing it the day it comes out.”
