lennon Lennons Likeness Could Appear On Commemorative CoinGreat Britain’s Royal Mint is asking the public to decide who should be selected for the next coin in its Great Britons collectable series and the list of names includes [lastfm]John Lennon[/lastfm].

If selected, the former [lastfm]Beatle[/lastfm] would join William Shakespeare, Winston Churchill, Charles Darwin, Florence Nightingale and Sir Isaac Newton as others who have had their likeness put on a commemorative coin.

Lennon is one of six possible candidates. The others include Jane Austen and Sir Walter Raleigh.

This marks the first time in the Royal Mint’s 1,100-year history that it has asked the public to help decide whose likeness to put on a commemorative coin. Lennon currently ranks fourth in the voting, which closes on July 31.
