falloutboy 1027091 Pete Wentz Announces New BandAfter a cryptic initial statement earlier this month, [lastfm]Fall Out Boy[/lastfm]‘s [lastfm]Pete Wentz[/lastfm] has officially introduced the world to his new band – the [lastfm]Black Cards[/lastfm]. In a recent post on his website, the bassist said the band will use a grass roots approach and offered up a free stream of a new track.

Wentz also recently revealed to Rolling Stone that much of the new music has been influenced by his travels in recent years.

“When FOB went on hiatus, I wasn’t really sure what to do with myself,” he said. “I know I wanted to keep traveling the world with my family. We had been to Jamaica recently. I spent a lot of time hanging around the beaches and I started to get inspired again by songs like [[lastfm]Culture[/lastfm]‘s] ‘Two Sevens Clash’ and [the [lastfm]Gladiators[/lastfm]‘] ‘Warriors.'”

He added, “I could imagine them having an everlasting imprint, like people would dance to this stuff forever. I could feel these songs really meant something. Not just in Jamaica but globally, crossing through culture and language.”

On the Black Cards’ new website, two new tracks – “Club Called Heaven” and “Beating in My Chest” – are currently available for streaming.
