Prince Album Free Of Charge For Europe

prince 012210 Prince Album Free Of Charge For Europe[lastfm]Prince[/lastfm] has announced that he will be giving away free copies of his latest album, 20Ten, in two British newspapers on July 10 and in the German equivalent of Rolling Stone when it is published on July 22.

The Daily Mirror and the Daily Record will carry 2.5 million copies of Prince’s album in a move that echoes his 2007 Planet Earth album, which was released with Britian’s Sunday edition of the Mail. The giveaway will coincide with the singer’s first interview with a British newspaper in 10 years.

Prince’s publicist Kiran Sharma says, “It is still possible for artists to work in an independent and innovative capacity”. Retail sellers, however, have called his action an “insult” to record stores.

Prince will be touring internationally this summer. His latest single, “Hot Summer,” was released on June 7. The legend was also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards last Sunday.
