jimmybuffet2 Free Benefit Show From Jimmy Buffett PostponedOrganizers of [lastfm]Jimmy Buffett’s [/lastfm]free Gulf Coast benefit concert have moved the event back to July 11. The show was initially scheduled to take place on July 1 but was postponed due to the high probability of harsh weather.

The show will take place in the Gulf Shores area of Alabama and features sets from other big name acts such as [lastfm]Zac Brown Band[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Kenny Chesney[/lastfm]. In a previous statement about the show, Buffett explained that he is holding the concert to “demonstrate support for the people, businesses, and culture of the Gulf Coast.”

Other performers scheduled to appear at the event include New Orleans legend [lastfm]Allen Toussaint[/lastfm], blues giant [lastfm]Sonny Landreth[/lastfm] and songwriter [lastfm]Jesse Winchester[/lastfm]. Buffett himself is counted among those hit by the Gulf Coast oil spill, having just opened his new $50 million Margaritaville Beach Hotel in Pensacola Beach, Florida.

The “Cheeseburger in Paradise” hitmaker’s most recent album, Buffet Hotel, hit stores last December.
