The band was brought in as a headliner for the festival after [lastfm]U2[/lastfm] was forced to drop out after emergency back surgery for their singer, [lastfm]Bono[/lastfm]. About 150,000 people are estimated to be in attendance at Glastonbury, braving sweltering temperatures to see the fest.

Along with Reed, Gorillaz, a virtual band fronted by [lastfm]Blur[/lastfm]‘s Albarn, were also joined by an all-female string section and an Arabic orchestra.

In the lead-up to the festival appearance, Albarn explained in an interview with British radio that he still nervous about the big dates.

“This morning I woke up and the first thing I felt a wave of anxiety about — is an audience that size going to respond to our songs? I don’t know,” he said.
