[lastfm]Jimmy Buffett[/lastfm] has confirmed a free show in support of those affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The event will take place in the Gulf Shores area along the Alabama coast on July 1, and will feature guest appearances by country stars [lastfm]Kenny Chesney[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Zac Brown Band[/lastfm].
In a statement about the show, Buffett explains that he is holding the concert to “demonstrate support for the people, businesses and culture of the Gulf Coast.”
Other performers scheduled to appear at the event include New Orleans legend [lastfm]Allen Toussaint[/lastfm], slide guitar guru [lastfm]Sonny Landreth[/lastfm] and renowned southern songwriter [lastfm]Jesse Winchester[/lastfm].
The “Margaritaville” hitmaker also recently expanded his ever-growing business empire with a new $50 million Margaritaville Beach Hotel in Pensacola Beach, Florida. The hotel opens July 1.
