foofighters 100109 Foo Fighter Goes Country[lastfm]Foo Fighters[/lastfm] guitarist [lastfm]Chris Shiflett [/lastfm]has released details on his new side-project, which looks like it might steer a bit away from the hard-hitting rock and roll of [lastfm]Dave Grohl [/lastfm]and company.

The [lastfm]Dead Peasants[/lastfm], Shiflett’s new outfit, draws influences from old country music and rockabilly, among other styles, according to an interview he recently gave to NME. The guitarist has also cited a love for “modern Americana” artists, including [lastfm]Wilco[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Ryan Adams[/lastfm].

“There’s really no real big loud Les Paul [guitar] pumping through a Marshall amp kind of moments on this record,” he said. “It is so far from anything I’ve been a part of with Foo Fighters and it was just really fun to do.”

[lastfm]Eddie Perez [/lastfm]of [lastfm]The Mavericks [/lastfm]appears extensively on the Dead Peasants’ upcoming self-titled album, which will hit stores July 12
