The [lastfm]Steve Miller Band [/lastfm]have released a new album, Bingo!, their first new offering since 1993’s Wide River. The album features covers of songs made famous by [lastfm]B.B. King[/lastfm], [lastfm]Lowell Fulson[/lastfm],[lastfm] Jimmy Reed [/lastfm]and [lastfm]Jimmie Vaughan[/lastfm].
“This is a party record, man,” Miller told Billboard. “It’s about getting up and getting ready to dance. It’s like the fraternity party gigs I used to play in college.”
He went on to say, “I went through and picked all my favorite tunes that I really, really loved. I wanted to make this record forever; it started off as just kind of a goof, and then it got real serious.”
The record’s first single, “Hey Yeah,” was released online in April and was made available for purchase May 18.
The band is gearing up for a big summer tour in support of Bingo!. The run kicks off in Toronto on June 30 and runs through October 2 in Miami.
