coldplay 1002091 Coldplay Lend Catalog To Glee[lastfm]Coldplay[/lastfm] have decided to allow the producers of Glee to use their catalog for future episodes of the hit TV show, after initially turning down requests for their songs.

“Coldplay and[lastfm] Bryan Adams[/lastfm] were really the only rejections,” Glee producer Ryan Murphy said. “But Coldplay called a week ago and said, ‘We’re sorry, you can have our catalogue.'”

Murphy also noted that Coldplay was not given the option to specify how the music would be used.

“At the beginning a lot of people didn’t know what we were and asked to see pages [in advance], but I refused because I didn’t want to set a precedent of them having any involvement,” he added.

Coldplay will now join an extensive list of artists including [lastfm]Madonna[/lastfm], [lastfm]Rihanna[/lastfm], [lastfm]Beyoncé[/lastfm], [lastfm]Journey[/lastfm], [lastfm]Lady Gaga[/lastfm], [lastfm]Christina Aguilera[/lastfm], [lastfm]U2[/lastfm], the [lastfm]Rolling Stones[/lastfm], [lastfm]Billy Joel[/lastfm] and [lastfm]John Lennon[/lastfm], whose music has been covered by the fictional William McKinley High School chorus.

Albums from the show’s music have continually reached the Billboard top 10, with more than 4.1 million copies of the cast’s singles sold.
