loureed1 Lou Reed Holding Sydney Concert For Dogs[lastfm]Velvet Underground[/lastfm] legend [lastfm]Lou Reed[/lastfm] and his wife, performance artist [lastfm]Laurie Anderson[/lastfm], will hold a high-frequency concert for dogs during the upcoming Sydney Vivid Live Festival.

The pair described the concert as “an inter-species social gathering on a scale never seen before in Australia.” The high-frequency concert, which will be inaudible to humans, is expected to last 20 minutes based on the expected attention span of dogs.

Anderson told the Sydney Morning Herald that the concert was inspired by her dog Lollabelle, who “likes things with a lot of smoothness but with beats in them.”

The month-long festival is curated by Reed and Anderson and will take place from May 27 to June 21. Other performers set to appear at the event include [lastfm]Rickie Lee Jones[/lastfm], [lastfm]Bardo Pond[/lastfm], [lastfm]Holly Miranda[/lastfm], [lastfm]My Brightest Diamond [/lastfm]and [lastfm]Metric[/lastfm]‘s [lastfm]Emily Haines[/lastfm], as well as by Reed and Anderson, among others.
