axlrose 102009 Axl Rose Accuses Former Manager Of Sabotaging New BandThe legal battle between [lastfm]Guns N’ Roses [/lastfm]frontman [lastfm]Axl Rose [/lastfm]and the band’s former manager, Irving Azoff, is heating up, with Rose now claiming that Azoff tried to sabotage the current lineup.

According to Rose, Azoff intentionally botched a number of business deals with the hopes that he would put the singer in such dire financial straights as to force a reunion with the original lineup.

In official court documents, Rose accuses Azoff of “devising and implementing a secret plan to set up Rose and the [current] band for failure so that Rose would have no choice but to reunite with the original Guns N’ Roses’ members.”

When the plan failed, Rose claims that the manager “resigned and abandoned [lastfm]Guns N’ Roses [/lastfm]on the eve of a major tour, filing suit for commissions he didn’t earn and had no right to receive.”

When contacted for comment by the New York Times, Azoff refused, saying, “On advice of counsel I cannot respond at this time, but will discuss it in my upcoming book, My Life With William Bill Bailey.”

On April 1, GNR wrapped up a South American tour in support of their 2008 release, Chinese Democracy.
