ZZ Top has confirmed that they will play a show to benefit the victims of the Chilean earthquake. The event will take place at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, on May 18.

The quake was felt in regions inhabited by 80 percent of the country’s population, and caused a tsunami watch for several other nations, including Ecuador, Colombia, Antarctica, Panama and Costa Rica, as well as the State of Hawaii.

“The whole world knows about the effects caused by the earthquake that happened in your beautiful country,” frontman Billy Gibbons said in a statement. “We know that the Chilean spirit can never be broken and that right now it is stronger than ever.”

In other news, ZZ Top will kick off their U.S. summer tour on April 28 at Sun Fest in West Palm Beach, Florida.
